Before joining the IAEA in 2021, Lydie Evrard held several positions in various institutions in France, mainly in the field of environmental protection, nuclear safety and risk management.

Prior to joining the IAEA, she worked for more than 10 years at the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), where she held the role of Commissioner (2017-2021), Head of the Department of Radioactive waste, decommissioning, fuel cycle facilities and research facilities (2010-2013) and Deputy Head of the Paris Region Division (2006-2009), in charge of radiation protection control and monitoring of sites contaminated by radioactive substances.
