Following Parliament’s approval, Lydie Evrard appointed as CEO of Andra

After receiving the green light from Parliament, Lydie Evrard has been officially appointed as CEO of Andra by decree of the President of the French Republic, published in the Official Journal on May 24, 2025. She will take up her duties on June 16.

Throughout her career, Lydie Evrard has worked extensively on issues related to the management of radioactive waste. Since 2021, she served as Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Before joining the IAEA, she held several senior positions within French institutions, mainly in the fields of environmental protection and risk management. These include:

  • Commissioner at the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) (2017–2021),
  • Director of the department in charge of waste, decommissioning, research facilities, and the fuel cycle (2010–2013),
  • Deputy Head of the Paris Division (2006–2009), responsible for radiation protection oversight and monitoring of sites contaminated by radioactive substances.

She also served as Interministerial Delegate for Standards and Deputy Director in charge of standardization, metrology, accreditation and product regulation at the Directorate General for Enterprise (2013–2017), and worked at the Ministry for the Environment on environmental protection policies (2000–2006).
