Public inquiry on Cigéo: share your views from 18 May

Local authorities in the Meuse and Haute-Marne departments have authorised the public inquiry on Cigéo’s construction license application. The inquiry will take place from 18 May to 16 July, and all interested stakeholders are invited to take part.

This public inquiry is a key step under French law, contributing to the decision-making process for the Cigéo project. It also provides an opportunity for the public to engage with the project, express views, and raise questions.

There are several ways to participate:

Contributions can be submitted in French, English or in any other language.

A practical guide on how to participate in the public inquiry is available here.

Why your participation matters

Public inquiries play an essential role in shaping major projects. They allow individuals, stakeholders and organisations, in France and internationally, to express their views, raise questions and contribute to the overall transparency of the process.

In France, the public inquiry on a construction licence application is conducted by an independent commission. All contributions are reviewed and summarised in a final report, which is made public and taken into consideration by the authorities before a decision is made.
