Andra as part of the French delegation to the IAEA General Conference
From the 15th to the 19th September, the 180 member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) gathered in Vienna, Austria, for the organisation's 69th General Conference. The aim of this annual meeting to approve the budget and decide on issues raised by the Board of Governors, the Director General and member states.

In the French delegation, Andra was represented Lydie Evrard, CEO. This was an opportunity for the Agency to meet and discuss with its Finnish, South African, Canadian, British, Romanian and Italian counterparts in order to strengthen strategic ties around common issues of safety and long-term management of radioactive waste.
During the week, Andra took part in a thematic side-event on public participation in decision-making on radioactive waste management, organised by the German Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE). The Agency was able to present the initiatives it has put in place to ensure constructive dialogue with society, particularly about the deep geological repository project Cigéo.
This key annual IAEA event enables Andra to highlight its activities and promote the French approach to radioactive waste management to nuclear professionals. This contributes to the responsible and safe management of radioactive waste around the world.
