Andra participation in the “Clay conference“

After Brussels in 2015, the 7th Clay Conference (“Clays in natural and engineered barriers for radioactive waste confinement” was held from 24 to 27 September in Davos (Switzerland). It was organised by Nagra, (the Swiss counterpart of Andra), and attracted more than 400 participants from 21 countries, including Canada, USA, China, Germany, etc.

This event, which is held every two and a half years, reviews the scientific and technological work carried out to support the development of disposal projects around the world. It is thus an ideal forum for building on, sharing and transmitting the knowledge acquired, contributing to transferring and maintaining expertise and know-how.
The large number of participants and countries represented, as well as the quality of the presentations, covering topics ranging from fundamental research, to understanding of processes, to technological developments, helping with the design and performance and safety assessment of repositories, meant that, once again, this edition of the Clay conference was a success.
The next Clay Conference will be held in Nancy in 2020 and will be organised by Andra.
