Andra presents the French Underground Research Laboratory to US NWTRB
In the United States, Andra is now clearly established as a reference for the management of high activity radioactive waste.
The purpose of the workshop was to present international cooperation programs and projects to the US DOE (Department Of Energy) in which American laboratories participate (Sandia National Laboratories, Berkeley Lab, Los Alamos National Laboratory ...), and those for which they would like to strengthen their participation (SKB Task Force, DECOVALEX, HotBENT ...).
Andra presented the central role of an underground laboratory in a geological disposal program. The multiple aspects of an URL was discussed with DOE, NWTRB and representatives from several National laboratories
This workshop followed a first workshop on monitoring and reversibility that took place in May 2018. Andra and France are now clearly established, in the United States, as a reference in the management of radioactive waste.
