Disposal of the 56th vessel lid at the CSA Aube facility

This wednesday, November 6, a transport carrying a vessel lid from the Chooz A Nuclear power plant, in decommissioning, has arrived at the Aube facility (CSA). Smaller than the other 55 previously disposed on the facility, this vessel lid had been the subject of a specific request for support from the Safety Authority (ASN), and an autorization received in 2018.

Its particular dimensions (4m in diameter, 3m in height and 49 tonnes against 5.70m diameter, 3.70m in height and 100 tonnes for the previous ones) have Indeed required adaptations of the equipment for its reception, disposal and injection.

The disposal of this 56th lid will allow the closure of the last disposal vault dedicated to this type of large item waste at the CSA.
