France submits a report to the IAEA
On 23 October, France a submitted to the IAEA* its 6th report on the safety of spent fuel and radioactive waste management.
This report was drafted in preparation for the next three-yearly “Joint Convention” meeting to be held at IAEA* headquarters in Vienna in May 2018. Its aim is to render public on the international scale the information on the implementation of the obligations imposed by the Joint Convention created in 1997 and to date signed by 75 countries: governance, regulatory framework, spent fuel and waste management methods, safety, development prospects, etc. The report, to which Andra contributed, is available on the ASN website in French and English.

Who contributed to the report ?
The development of the French report was coordinated by ASN. In addition to Andra, the following entities also contributed to drafting the report: ASN, the DGEC (General Directorate for Energy and the Climate, the MSNR (nuclear safety and radiation protection delegation of the Ministry for ecological and sustainable transition), EDF, Areva, CEA and IRSN.
