IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and his deputy Mikhail Chudakov visit Andra during the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE)
During the World Nuclear Exhibition from November 30th to December 2nd 2021 in Paris, Andra received the visits of IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and Mikhail Chudakov, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Energy.
On Tuesday 30 November, the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi met Andra’s CEO Pierre-Marie Abadie.
M. Rossi was accompanied by the French Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Vienna, S.E. M. Xavier Stricker, and Mr Frédéric Mariotte, Nuclear Counsellor and Head of the IAEA Team.
M. Abadie presented Andra, our activities and projects, with a focus on Cigeo. He also highlighted the French innovations, especially in the field of communication and stakeholders’ involvement.
On Wednesday, the IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Energy, Mikhail Chudakov and M. Henri Paillère, head of planning and economic studies sctions. discussed the Cigéo project with Daniel Delort, head of international Affairs department.
At the end of the discussions, both appreciated and underlined the French excellence in terms of radioactive waste management.
M. Grossi proposed to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences, particularly on stakeholder involvement. Andra is implicated in numerous IAEA working groups, networks and projects: in 2021, it represents contributions to more than 30 IAEA events (meetings, conferences, …).
