The European EURAD program website is online

Led by Andra and tasked with bringing together the efforts of around 100 European players in the management of radioactive waste (agencies, support organizations for safety authorities, research organizations), the European R&D program EURAD * now has its website (ejp-eurad.eu) to share news, events and documents.

Selected after a call for tenders by the European Commission, the EURAD program was officially launched in June 2019 during the EURADWASTE conference, for a period of 5 years. The partners from 23 European countries will work on a joint roadmap by pooling their research efforts and sharing their scientific and technical knowledge around subjects of long-term management of radioactive waste (uncertainties, knowledge management, etc.).

The launch of the EURAD website marks a first step to share all the information around this R&D program. A twitter account and a LinkedIn account complete the system.

The concept of EURAD is to integrate the needs of national programmes across EU Member-States via all mandated research organisations by their official national programme for R&D i.e. (i) Waste Management Organisations whose mission covers the management and disposal of radioactive waste, (ii) Technical Support Organisations carrying out activities aimed at providing the technical and scientific basis for notably supporting the decisions made by a national regulatory body and (iii) nationally funded Research Entities which are involved in the R&D of RWM, under the responsibility of Member States, as well as radioactive waste producers/owners.
