Memorandum of Agreement with Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation
On the sidelines of the 63rd regular session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, Austria, Andra and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, ENEC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future cooperation.
This cooperation between ENEC and Andra has several components:
- a review of regulatory aspects,
- the formation of teams
- and the preliminary development of a repository for low and intermediate level operational waste.
Through this cooperation, ENEC will build on the experience gained by Andra in creating a long-term sustainable management program, in line with international recommendations.
The United Arab Emirates is preparing to put into operation a nuclear power plant with 4 reactors for a power of 5 GW whose construction began in 2009.
As such, Andra wishes to show its ability to support a country to develop a responsible and ambitious management policy.
ENEC has chosen Andra for its expertise in the field of transmission of knowledge and radioactive waste management solutions.
